COLORADO COLLEGE – A little history – Found in a speech given in 1964 by Lucille Latting, Honorary State Regent:
“In 1925-26 the regency of Mrs. Frank Brown a scholarship fund was established at Colorado College. This is still existent and has helped a number of young women to secure an education.”
Eighty-six years later this scholarship is still self-funded due to wise investing by the trust that manages this fund. This scholarship is for Colorado College students only and is distributed once a year in the amount of $1,500 to $2000 (varies annually).
DAR SCHOLARSHIPS – sponsored at the state and national level. There are several awarded to college age and returning students. Our chapter chairman provides the information to the local colleges, especially where there are nursing programs. Each scholarship awarded is a different amount.
KINNIKINNIK SCHOLARSHIPS – Awarded to high school graduating seniors only in the amount of $1,500. Students must work through their guidance counselors to obtain and complete the necessary paperwork.
GOOD CITIZENSHIP SCHOLARSHIP – This is awarded at our chapter level to a high school senior. Students are required to complete an application and write an essay on a different topic annually. Essays are judged and awards are announced at a tea in February. The award is $200.
