February 1, 2014 – Kinnikinnik celebrates its 100 Year Anniversary! There will be a a wonderful party at the Antlers Hotel.
November 9, 2013 – Kinnikinnik Daughters continued their proud tradition of walking in the annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Colorado Springs. Chapter ladies, some in period costumes, marched in the parade in honor of all veterans.
November 2013 – Chapter Regent, Carole Egbert, members and guests laid flowers on Kinnikinnik’s first Regent, Effie Campbell’s grave.
September 2013 – Kinnikinnik Chapter held their first official meeting hosted by Barb Smith, Andy Harris and Lila Miller, at the Historic Black Forest Log School House, built in 1922 and placed on the DAR National Registers of historic places in 1993. Guest speaker was Carrie Robertson on the preservation of the school and community center, both which survived the Black Forest Fire of 2013.
September 2013 – Our second Annual 9/11 Cookie Event! Cookies were delivered to all Police and Fire Stations in El Paso County for a second year by the Chapter Daughters.
August 18, 2013 – The 18th Annual Membership Tea was hosted by the Kinnikinnik Chapter officers at Registrar, Carolyn Trump’s home. It was a try relaxed day of visiting with many guests, good friends and hopefully, new members! It was fun to catch up with friends after a summer break, meeting our Liaison, Tina Dudley, and two guest speakers. Jan Hinkle, the director of the Colorado Girls State and last year’s three recipients attended including one delightful young lady, Molly Maier. Also, a party is not a part without games which Barb Smith was happy to inject one pertaining to questions “How much do you know about DAR?” which was such fun.
